Never a dull moment!

So we had the kids' birthday party on Saturday. Oh man, was it hot! I don't know that we'll be doing another outdoor b-day party unless water activity is involved. Whew! The kids had a good time, even if the adults felt like they were melting.

The cakes were gorgeous. Nana did an amazing job. Logan had a Star Wars The Clone Wars cake, and Colleen had a Disney Princesses cake.

The kids played on the playground until it was time to have cake and open presents.

Then, there was Sunday....

Patrick had a bike race, and I had to be at church from 7:45AM until after noon. I knew that would be a long day for the kids and for me trying to get them moved back and forth to their classes and such. So, Patrick dropped them off with Carly and Nathan for the morning.

Youth Sunday was wonderful! The youth did a fantastic job. While I was at Carly's picking up the kids, I got a phone call from Patrick saying he wrecked and needed stitches. So, I got the kids back out of the van and left them at Carly's and headed over to Walnut Creek Family Practice to meet Patrick. He ended up needing seven stitches on a pretty nasty gash. It hurts him to bend it, so he hasn't been doing much in the way of movement. Ibuprofin is his new friend.

Speaking of sore, I've been getting up at 6AM for a run/walk. I'm training for a 5K in August, and it's in a pretty hilly area. I've got to get a handle on these sore legs and get used to hills, otherwise, I'll never make the 5K.

We don't have anything big planned for the summer. Mainly we are just planning on hanging around home. I'm looking forward to a summer at home with my family.

Another year......

It's hard to believe that it's time for another round of birthdays. Where has the time gone? Colleen just celebrated her 4th birthday, and Logan's 8th birthday is just a couple days away. We'll have their party tomorrow.

I'll have more to add, and maybe some pictures, soon. Right now, I hear thunder, and I am hoping to get a trip to the farmer's market in today.. so I'd better get moving if I am going to do it before this afternoon storm hits.

Spring!

Wow! I didn't realize I hadn't posted anything in so long. The last time I posted, it was the last day of fall soccer. Just over a week ago was the first game of the spring soccer season. Colleen still doesn't care much for the game, but she seems to be warming up to it a little more. Logan is doing very well. He's great on defense. Patrick coaches both teams, and he loves it.

We had a wonderful Easter yesterday. The weather was perfect.. sunny and warm.. could not ask for a better day to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. We started the morning at church. After the 8:30 traditional and the 9:45 contemporary services, the kids and I left to pick up Roseann and Benjamin and head out to spend the day with Mom and Buddy. Patrick joined us after the 11:00 traditional service. He had to play handbells, so he couldn't leave as early.

They had a great time looking for eggs and playing in the yard. Buddy brought out the riding toys.. you know, the little kiddie tractors and four-wheelers.. the type that don't go too fast, but fast enough to be fun?!?! They had a blast on those for a while. Colleen enjoyed it until she rode hers right into a sticker bush. Nana got all the splinters/sticks out and covered her up in band-aids. She was much happier after that.

Coming up we have a Lego event to attend. Logan's team was invited to present at the World's Lego League competition on April 16th in Atlanta, GA. Should be an interesting day.

We are going to Florida in May for a Star Wars in Concert symphony thing with Grammy and Granddad. We are really looking forward to it. Colleen will stay with Nana and Buddy that weekend. Logan's pretty excited about going. I'm not sure if it's hit him yet that he's going to be traveling in an airplane. I can't wait to see what he thinks of flying.

Guess that's it for now. Have a great day.. who knows when I'll remember to come here and post again. :-)
