Last Sunday, Rev. Jim talked to the kids in the children's message about hearing God's voice. So Monday or Tuesday Logan and I get in the van after school, and Logan says to me, "Mom, can we just be quiet." Now, at this point, I am thinking, "Yes! A quiet ride out to get Colleen." Logan then says, "Good, because I was to listen for God's voice."
The conversation continued. Logan was trying to figure out where heaven was. I told him that when we died, we'd know where heaven was because we'd be there. He told me he didn't want to die. I told him that I didn't mean right now, but at some point everyone dies. It's part of life. That lead us to talk about Christians going to heaven. He wanted to know what a Christian was, so I told him that a Christian was a person who loved God and wanted to tell others about how much God loved them. A Christian is a person who has God in their heart and life and who want to live like God would want us to live. To this Logan replied, "Mommy, I love God. And I want to tell others about God. God is in my life." It was all I could do to keep the van on the road for all the tears in my eyes.
Fast-forward to Wednesday morning. Logan and I were taking Colleen out to the sitter. On the radio (104.7 "The Fish") Kevin and Taylor were interviewing a little girl who was writing letters, making pictures, and such and sending them to veterans. They asked her why she was doing it, and she told them that one day after church God told her to do it. Logan didn't say anything for a while, then he said to me, "Mommy, I think that girl can hear God's voice."
So sweet. I am loving watching my little boy learn about God and watching his love for Him to grow each day.
